About Direct Laboratory Services Founded in 1985 DLS wellness screening programs have helped people become aware of the importance of wellness and prevention. The City of New Orleans awarded DLS a certificate of appreciation for administering their Metro Area Health Awareness Program, which tested 20,000 people over 9 days. DLS has worked with some of the country's largest retailers, as well as state and local Health Departments in organizing and administering health screenings. Periodic reviews of operations by state health departments and medical regulatory boards, receive enthusiastic approval. Beginning with on-site screening programs by phlebotomy teams and referring the specimens to clinical laboratories, with the opening of Patient Service Centers by those labs, we began referring customers directly to the center nearest them, which now totals over 8000 locations across the United States. DLS is now in its ninth year of providing wellness screening to employees of the State of Louisiana insured by the State Employees Group Benefits Program. Our President and CEO, John A. Bell, founded DLS in 1985 after spending 20 years with Union Carbide Corporation (UCC) in various supervisory and management positions. John went to work for UCC after completing his degree in Industrial Engineering. Personal family medical history led John to vigorous involvement in wellness and prevention
Joseph M. Quashnock, Ph.D.,
FACB received MS and Ph.D. degrees in biochemistry from the
University of Notre Dame. He is a licensed and board certified
(ABB) medical laboratory director with over 20 years of experience
in the field. He has additional expertise in quality assurance
and regulatory affairs including the interpretation and application
of HCFA, CLIA, OSHA, NRC, DOT, and EPA regulations to medical
facilities. American Board of Bioanalysis - High-complexity
Clinical Laboratory Director; Certified College of American
Pathologists Inspector; Certified Federal OSHA Instructor
Medical Consultant, Dr. Barry
Bennett has a Ph.D. in Clinical Nutrition and Counseling
Psychology. He is a Certified Nutritional Consultant (CNC)
and has been in private practice as a clinician for over 25
years, helping individuals with their physical, mental and
emotional challenges. He has been a consultant for Immuno
Labs of Ft. Lauderdale, FL for 5 years and has been working
with Biochemical and other Nutritional Testing results for
over 20 years. He is now a Consulting Practitioner for Direct
Lab Services offering dietary and nutritional supplement advice
as part of the interpretation of all Direct Labs testing.
Chief Financial Officer, Nannette
A. Ringham, received her MBA from Tulane University. With
a strong background in the health care industry, she has extensive
experience in financial, managerial and administrative capacities
in developing, constructing and opening healthcare facilities,
as well as the acquisition and sale of stabilized healthcare
facilities. Her particular expertise includes all analytical
and preparatory phases of projects, from market research and
analysis of demographic data to compliance with regulatory
requirements for government approval. Skilled in all human
resource functions, including staff recruitment, retention,
training, development, benefits, workers' compensation, and
EEOC matters, she is an asset to DLS.
