Description: Thyroglobulin is a protein that is found primarily in the thyroid gland. Some thyroglobulin can be found in the blood. This blood test also looks for antibodies made by your body in response to thyroglobulin. Thyroglobulin antibodies attack thyroglobulin proteins and can destroy the thyroid gland itself. The test can be used to distinguish an autoimmune thyroid disease from other thyroid diseases. For example, to find the causes of goiters or high/low thyroid hormone levels.
