Description: Hepatitis C Virus RNA tests are important clinical tools for confirming the diagnosis and guiding treatment of hepatitis C infection. There are two types of hepatitis C RNA tests, qualitative and quantitative.

The qualitative test detects the presence or absence of HCV RNA and is reported as either detected (positive) or not detected (negative). This is useful in a patient who has a positive RIBA test to confirm active infection.

Methodology: Transcription-Mediated Amplification (TMA)

Note: Result turnaround times are an estimate and are not guaranteed. Our reference lab may need additional time due to weather, holidays, confirmation/repeat testing, or equipment maintenance.
