Hepatitis Panel, Acute (DO NOT USE)

We are required to report positive results for this test to the CDC.

Fasting Required: No

Specimen: Blood

Results: 5-7 Business Days

Tests Included:
Hepatitis A Antibody, IgM: Good evidence for acute Hepatitis A. The IgM antibody develops within a week of symptom onset, peaks in three months, and is usually gone after six months.

Hepatitis B Core Antibody: Used to assess the stages of the hepatitis B infection past or present. The course of HBV infections can vary from a mild form that lasts only a few weeks to a more serious chronic form lasting years. Sometimes chronic HBV leads to serious complications such as cirrhosis or liver cancer.

Hepatitis B Surface Antigen: Used as the earliest indicator of the infection. The course of HBV infections can vary from a mild form that lasts only a few weeks to a more serious chronic form lasting years. Sometimes chronic HBV leads to serious complications such as cirrhosis or liver cancer.

Hepatitis C Antibody: Used to assess exposure to Hepatitis C. Hepatitis C is a viral infection that causes the liver to become inflamed. HCV antibodies usually do not appear until several months into an infection but will always be present in the later stages of the disease.
Note: Result turn around times are an estimate and are not guaranteed. Our reference lab may need additional time due to weather, holidays, confirmation/repeat testing, or equipment maintenance.
