Hepatitis B Surface Ab, Qualitative
Fasting Required: No

Specimen: Blood

Results: 5-7 Business Days

Description:
Used to detect previous exposure to HBV; it can also develop from successful vaccination so it is used to determine the need for vaccination (if anti-HBs is absent) or to determine if a person has recovered from an infection and is immune (cannot get the infection again).

Methodology:
Immunoassay (IA)

Reference Range(s):
Non-Reactive

Clinical Significance:
The detection of anti-HBs is indicative of a prior immunologic exposure to the antigen or vaccine. To determine immune status as =10 mIU/mL as per CDC guidelines, please order Hepatitis B Surface Antibody, Quantitative.

Note: Result turn around times are an estimate and are not guaranteed. Our reference lab may need additional time due to weather, holidays, confirmation/repeat testing, or equipment maintenance.
